living in
one place

In the fall of 2003 I decided to go on the road. I sold my furniture, gave away most of my things, and moved into a 1989 VW Vanagon. For two and a half years I traveled the United States and Canada, meeting all kinds of people and seeing wonderful places - and a few not-so-wonderful ones! To read about my travels, click on the link to the left for "travels with Matilda."

In the spring of 2006 I decided it was getting to be time to live in one place again, at least for a while. A few months later, after a detour to Mongolia and a wonderful two months in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Labrador, I moved back into my house in Arlington, Virginia, outside of Washington DC. I thought I would stop documenting my everyday life on the web, but I found I'd rather gotten used to it.

So I continued for a while. You can read here about what it's like to live in one place after two and a half years on the road.
